Teacher Frank - About me:
Hi Everybody!
Wow! I've been teaching English for over twenty-five years now! I've taught just about every level of young adult learner from high school and university students, computer technicians and engineers, corporate and hotel personnel, tour guides and military personnel. This was mostly done in the United States, throughout Asia and the Middle East - quite far away from the rolling green hills and forests of Fountain Springs, Pennsylvania where I was born in the States.
This teaching included a wide variety of students from Asian secondary schools and universities; companies such as Microsoft, Dell, Hewlett-Packard and Horizon; Arab-American oil companies as well as hotels such as Holiday Inn International. Always, I wished the lesson material would be more enjoyable for the learners. Much more fun!
When I studied for my Masters of Arts Degree (MAT) in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) at the School for International Training in lovely Brattleboro, Vermont, I learned about the wonderful effects of teaching English with "Multimedia Methodologies" - that is, using videos, slides, images and sounds.
Also, I learned that when the resources were artistic in nature, such as a beautiful song, portrait, photograph or a colorful video of a real-life activity, the students would identify with the material they saw and heard - and more importantly feel it more emotionally! (The blackboards and whiteboards, the black and white texts were there too, but waiting in the shadows as secondary support resources.)
Now, after years of teaching with multimedia methods, I'm convinced that students concentrate better, learn faster, remembered longer and have a lot more fun with a high number of audio and visual items and formats in any well-balanced language learning program! When I ask them "Did you enjoy the multimedia content?" the answer is usually a strong "Yes!!'
This website offers two forms of multimedia English language lessons: The free "English Through Song" Program and their lyric worksheets (.doc), and our exciting "Speak English Here And Now" Program. Both can be seen and heard in two Flash files formats (i. e. flv and .swf).The "Speak English Here And Now" Program is unique because it teaches Conversation Rules. This is done in both male and female voiced dialogs with clear audio, colorful text and photos. I truly hope you will enjoy both!
